I don’t know how the quadraverb is build internally but it’s pretty common on music-related devices to not connect the audio signal ground (aka the sleeves / shields of the cables) to the power ground (which usually is connected to the chassis). That’s why on most XLR cables the chassis’ ground terminal isn’t connected to anything and instead just the three pins are connected to the cables conductors. The sleeve of TS and TRS never make any contact to the sockets chassis.
But the FRFR8 should indeed provide a connection for the signals’ ground.
Is the noise also present when you use a high gain amp for distortion or a capture of a distortion pedal?
As does the mixer. It’s in the distortions of pedals not so much the amps but I don’t run them at high gain to notice.
I use my Quadaverb 2 with a QC send without any delay/reverb effects and it outputs a faint full wet signal to just give a hint of room ambiance in to my room monitors NOT in my HeadRush FRFR which is the main output. You hardly notice it. The fizzy is not a steady noise that I have, it is sitting on top of played notes with any distortion added.
It’s the PC power/charging cable, I had the exact same noise with my laptop when it was plugged in but no noise running off it’s battery
Well finally had the time to start from square one and trace everything and found it was coming from the Quadraverb signal but not because of it. Seems during my last "lets clean up some of this cabling mess I had accidentally hit the -20db pad switch on the input coming from QC lifting it, and it was pegging the input into that Yamaha mixer channel. This gave the Quadraveb a clipping signal which was then barely audible but also has a longer tail than the QC playing through my FRFR. Silly me…so it was not the last update which was about that time it started.
