Best place to attenuate with mac/qc/studio monitors/frfr for best quality?

hi all
i have a mac/qc/set up with genelec 8040 (3/4)and a pair of laney frfr (1/2) looking for advise for best place to level sound volume in chain. as with all set to unity its too loud so question being …

where would you set your mac sound level from youtube (i put half way )is it better to set at max and attune the usb input level on qc ?

my genelecs are at unity (stange thing not sure if its me but on these +6 seting is quiter than -6 setting ??), is it best to attune here to +6(quietest) or leave at unity and attune on the qc output i/o settings (currently set to -6 to level with 1/2)

the laney frfr are set to about 30/35% again best to adjust then on the unit or set higher and attune at qc i/o

i know the general advise to to set the volume wheel at 100% but its very loud hitting 95db at 80% (im in a 3x2.5 mtr room ) listening just to youtube etc when not playing have the wheel at 20% and playing/jamming along the wheel is at 50-80%

so asking really where in the chain is it best to attune… the mac lvl, qc usb lvl and output lvl (i/o),or elsewhere?, genelec lvl and frfr lvl

thanks for any help

Since it’s probably the easiest to access I would say the QC wheel is the best place to turn down your overall volume.
Keeping the QC wheel at 100% just means you are at unity gain, the audio quality won’t change if you turn it down.

Your use case is probably different but I use an Audient Nero monitor controller in my home studio when I’m playing through my Dynaudio BM5As and keep the QC wheel wide open. I use the QC wheel to turn down the volume when I play through an FR cabinet. I never play through both at the same time.
