I would like to have a Beat Scanner of sorts, Kemper has this option and it’s really useful; holding down the “TAP” button activates Beat Scanner which sets the tempo to current tempo of the song. Super useful when playing tricky rhythmic delay parts with a drummer who can’t keep up the beat precisely.
You should post a feature request to your drummer to get good 
What would be the benefit over just tapping along to the song?
The benefit would be that you don’t have to tap? You’d lose an input for the analysed input signal but gain a foot 
I think it does not have to be about keeping the beat but also automatically reacting to WANTED tempo changes
