Hi everyone, currently I have the NC linked to an Headrush FRFR Go, that I use when I am at home, with or without headphones. I am pretty happy with this setup because the Headrush allow me to stream (via bluetooth or aux cable) backin tracks. As everyone knows, the NC still does not have this feature, so here it is the question.
How do you use backing tracks? I would like to play even when I do not have access to the Headrush and I want to play with headphones and the NC.
Reading online, maybe I could use a small portable mixer but I would like to hear NC users
You could just connect your Phone with usbc to the nano Cortex, if you have a 9v600ma power supply. With an iPad Pro or a laptop this works great with just a usbc cable for streaming audio and power supply
An external speaker like the FRFR Go is really the easiest option here because if you’re looking to have the Nano Cortex play the backing tracks from your source audio, as well as process your guitar signal so that you can jam all from the unit… that doesn’t exist just yet (if at all with the NC).
But since you stated that you want to play on headphones, you’d be looking for a pair of headphones that can mix the audio from the NC via wired connection to the headphone in, along with Bluetooth simultaneously (which would sync to your source audio device i.e. your phone playing a backing track). Here’s an idea of the ‘chain’ so to speak:
So if your headphones have this capability, awesome. If not, there’s plenty of headphone options available of varying quality, that can simultaneously do a bluetooth connection and plug directly in. Google is your friend, and I hope this helps!
I have a cheap 40$CAD two channel mixer with a headphones output and aux input. Allows me to play along with backing tracks. I use a Bluetooth speaker when I use an amp though
I think the iRig Stream could be a solution. It takes input from a stereo line level source (i.e. your NC) and from your backing track device (e.g. your phone). You connect your headphone and you can adjust the volume of each input on the iRig separately. But you can also send the NC signal to your phone and mix everything in a small DAW on your phone. It’s small enough to fit into your pocket. You only need to find a USB power source just as the NC does.
I bought a 9v charger to free the USB-C port and tried this way linking the android phone. It wors but…. randomly the backing track starts to distorts randomly. I made some experiments, changing the usb-c cable, moving it, switching from local mp3 on the phone to youtube backing track but discovered nothing. I even tried with an iPhone but the iphone doesn’t work at all, don’t know why.
I will make other attempts as soon as possible, but if it works I think it is better than having another piece like an external mixer or special headphones.
I use ny ipad pro to power AND stream music (or Logic or Garageband projects) to the Nano via the USB port. You can set the level using the USB volume control. Capture level lets you balance the live guitar level and headphones volume does what youd hope.
That is really Strange. Did you try to lower your input for the usb sound in the app? Maybe something is wrong there. I did this extensively with my iPhone and never had a problem.
