Very interesting and well-handled video from Josh @ JHS, responding to a guitar youtuber who obviously knows very little about a lot of things.
Similar discussions have also come up on here quite a few times with the whole “it should be easy” and “it’s so expensive” crowd, as people seem blissfully ignorant of quite how much time and expense goes into making these things.
I think Josh handled it incredibly well. Anyone who looks at the cost of the parts that make up a device and believes that those are the only costs for the manufacturer, they have an oversimplified understanding of the business (to say the least). Hopefully Mr. Cordy will see this vid and reassess his previous statements.
Corey did post a response video and realized he was being dumb haha. I think this discourse will help clear stuff up about pedal companies and that it isn’t just the basic cost of cheap parts
The cynic in me just sees this as a massive marketing/promotion opportunity for him: look dumb for a few days, but get your channel shared far and wide and get far more engagement in future.
Yeah there’s no bad press! I love Cordy but I do think he says some silly things just to stir up the YouTube algorithm. Can’t blame him though, he’s gotta put food on the table.
