Beginner’s doubt with nano cortex: I have downloaded some amp + cab captures, and when I turn off the IR they sound too strident, and when I activate it they sound like very boxed in, I don’t find the point. However, when I load the amp captures, they sound pretty good when you add an IR to it. What am I doing wrong? I would appreciate your help. Thank you.
One thing that might be an issue is that captures you download from the cortex cloud vary a lot in the output volume. This needs to be compensated by tweaking the capture volume setting.
The variation in capture output get’s more obvious for captures of the types amp+cab and combo since you disable the cab/ir slot.
I myself prefer captures of the amp type since they are easier to tame and get more variation out of tweaking the CAB/IR settings.
Thanks a lot!
And speaking of volumes, I have already created several presets and I have assigned them to the IA/B and IIA/B buttons, but some sound at a higher volume than others. Then I try to turn the volume down to the capture so that that preset sounds at the same volume as the others, and I get them to sound at the same volume. But when I put on another preset and go back to the previous one, it comes out at high volume again. How can I make all 4 of them at the same volume? Thank you.
A preset contains all the settings apart from the main level knob (and the headphones level knob).
So to volume match a set of presets keep the level knob at the same setting and tweak the capture volume and/or the CAB/IR level for each preset and make sure to press the save button before switching between presets.
I find it way easier to take reference in the factory presets and try to get the same output (or close) by using a RMS meter to get some numbers to aim for.
