5CM effects only on QC Mini

Hi all, hoping someone could help if they can. Is it possible to run QC mini just for effects in front of an amp AND stereo in a stereo loop (5 cable method)? If it is, how would one cable and configure it? Cheers :folded_hands:t3:

Pretty sure you can but I haven’t done it before. Is the amp stereo, or do you plan to run the effects through another poweramp/PA?

Absolutely!

Guitar-> QC Input-> QC Output 3 or 4 ->Amp Input

Stereo effects would go into the stereo QC FX Return and out the QC FX Send. If you’re going direct to the PA you could use the XLR outputs, but assuming you aren’t if you’re going into a head first.

Of course just have your lanes for each. You could easily have Row 1+2 before the amp and Row 3+4 for the stereo effects. Each lane can process a stereo signal easily, so you’ll have two (or three) rows for stereo effects depending how much stuff you need.

Thank you so much. So basically I want to use QC mini going into the front of my preamp using out 3 and my Strymon Flint & Cloudburst after the QC Mini in the loop of my Soldano X88ir which has a stereo return. Regarding cables, how would I configure it as the QC Mini only has one send & return? Many thanks again :folded_hands:t3:

Mono 1/4 cable from Solano preamp to the QC “return”. The “send” from the Soldano is only mono since it’s a mono preamp.

You just need a stereo TRS cable to go from the QC mini “send” to the input of the Flint (this pedal has a switch to have the input be stereo).

Ok great, so just to confirm.

GTR - INPUT 1 QC

QC OUTPUT 3 - (Stereo to dual mono cable) X88 L & R RTN

QC SEND - X88 INPUT

QC RTN - X88 SEND

Then use row 1&2 for pre effects, row 3&4 for post effects?

Cheers

GTR - INPUT 1 QC

QC OUTPUT 3 - (mono cable) X88 input

X88 SEND- QC RTN (mono cable)

QC SEND - X88 RTN

If you’re using the Strymon flint with the QC you’ll need to use a stereo TRS cable from the QC SEND to the Flint Input (make the switch on the Flint sure this is set to stereo input)

Row 1-2 for pre effects and Row 3-4 for post effects is great in the QC

The send/return of the QC is gonna work opposite of what you think. Only because you are going out to the QC for effects from another device. The layout you had typed flipped them. If you follow the layout I typed above you should be good (pending any routing within the QC and making sure nothing is peaking out in the I/O menu if the QC). Gain staging with the QC will be pretty critical in making sure the Soldano responds properly.

You can ignore the post I deleted about the dual mono cable. I had to look into the Soldano to see it’s only a mono send.

Ah thank you so much. Sometimes the Internet (with the kindness of a community) can be so helpful and an enjoyable thing! Got it all set up now and sounding wonderful. I really appreciate your time helping me out. All the best :folded_hands:t3:
