if +5dB is the signal going out of capture out to the amp… is this the same as plugging directly into the amp? Before a capture I set up my amp with guitar plugged in and dialing in a sound I like. How do I make sure this will still sound the same when capturing? Or do I set my sound on the amp when already setting up the capture with the signal from the capture out?
Hard to say, because it depends how loud you run the amp. If the amp disables the master volume (like many will do if you just run into the effects return), then you need to control the volume of the amp with how hard you run the preamp model/capture into it. It won’t necessarily just be 6db.
If you get the volume the same overall with the amp itself, and capture into the amp- then you’re running into it the same.
Hi, maybe my post wasn’t clear. I’m not running a capture in to the amp. I want to know for the capturing process. If the capture out is +5db, will it sound the same capturing as plugging my guitar into the input of the amp.
reviving this topic again but does anyone use pedals in front the of the QC? and do do you use that to boost the signal rather than using the I/O input?
I’m considering an always on compressor in front but i’d like to hear some opinions on drive or fuzz if people use them.
I keep an Earthquaker Devices Hizumitas in front of my QC. Sounds great and it reacts well with most amp models in the QC. Just using it for grind, not boost.
I had the Gamechanger Audio Plasma Coil before that and for some reason it did NOT pair well with the QC.
Pedals in front of the QC? I’ve experimented with all kinds, but I get what I need from the unit internally. The only ‘pedal’ I have that would go with it is a buffer if anything.
My mindset kind of thinks like this now: if I’m going to spend a couple hours listening to different reviews or playthroughs of a pedal, to eventually use it with my own rig, to determine if I want to buy it or even use it… well that’s time I could rather invest in experimenting with what the QC already has. Maybe I can find or ‘make’ something to serve the purpose that a pedal is looking for. Honestly, there’s so many options out there and the capture community is strong, that it’s just easier to keep everything in one unit. And I’ve never had a use for a Digitech Whammy! So that’s my two Canadian pennies
Ues a Hotone Soul Press 2 wah/vol then I have an EP Boost set to about 9 oclock always on. Then my current is a Fulltone Fat Boost and Big Lloyd F-6 for additional gain/OD. I try to keep a unity gain to the QC. QC input is set with just the EP Boosts at -3.7 then each preset has a gain block after the noise reduction set to +3.7.
