I have this on my unit as well and here it’s a hardware issue. The potentiometer is fluctuating a bit and causing the problems.
I did not send my unit back, since just turning the knob back and forth many times solves the issue for a while.
Same as for some other equipment like analog mixers. Maybe some corrosion going on in the contacts.
