I definitely like moving the compressor around in a preset. For heavily-effected ambient presets I like a comp after delays and reverbs, it can really squish them and glue them together. It’s almost a saturation-type effect where the wet fx become thicker and more present. Gotta watch out for hiss/noise when combining comps or just pushing them hard, but finding that balance has yielded some interesting tones and fx for me. Series compressors are also something to explore when you’re looking for a different feel or a really squishy effect

An unusually high ratio and release setting for guitar compression used in this video. Interesting, I wouldn’t run things that high ordinarily. Almost running like a gate at a ratio of 12.
