Using Nano for recording vocals

I am absolutely stumped as to how I can use my Nano to record vocals into my DAW. Reaper. I use it for bass and guitar and love it. But have to use a separate AI to record vocals. How do I do it?

So here’s how I did it, and it took me a minute to figure it out. My setup is with an AT2020 condensor mic with external phantom power for the mic, DAW is Reaper. Laptop is cheap junk laptop from 2022.

Make sure everything is setup like normal to record guitar so your nano connected to your computer, device set to nano cortex in reaper, I set my request block size to 128 but don’t think it’s needed. Then the most important things you should check for that might be stopping it.

  1. Make sure only your Mic is plugged into the capture input. Do not leave your guitar plugged into the other inputs or the recording will song really low. I also have the boost button turned on for my capture input.

  2. Make sure you push the capture button to go into capture mode and can adjust gain and level on the nano cortex as needed. It will not pick up sound if your in the regular mode.

  3. To hear playback exit capture mode or it will not be able to hear it. I use headphones to monitor everything.

You might be able to use a 1/4” adapter for your mic to plug it into your normal input? I don’t really know and didn’t want to have to buy an adapter when this solution already worked for me.

Hope this helps!
