I have an FRFR speaker, but sometimes in the evening i would like to play with headphones (so i don’t wake up the kids and don’t get in trouble with the neighbours).
I currently have only a bluetooth pair on Headphones (the Sennheiser HD350BT), so i can’t connect to the Core Cortex using a cable / headphone out.
But i would love to use headphones, even if the quality wouldn’t be exactly the same…
Do you guys know of a good way to connect the core cortex to the bluetooth headphones?
I know there are some kind of bluetooth transmitters out there, but i have no experience with them?
Ignoring latency, you could use a Bluetooth transmitter. A lot of those have 1/8" / 3.5 mm cables, though. You would need to connect it through a 1/4" adapter to your QC. (I cannot confirm whether a transmitter with a 1/4" cable exists.)
Bluetooth codecs have higher latency than wired headphones, ranging from 34-200 milliseconds , which may be experienced as a noticeable lag between the action occurring and the corresponding audio. In contrast, wired headphones experience an average latency between 5-10 milliseconds.
Boss Waza-Air headphones are the only truly wireless practice solution I’ve found that has negligible latency since they’re 2.4Ghz and not Bluetooth. You can use these with the QC if you disable all the built-in effects, amp simulation, and EQ, but they’re on the more expensive end and can sometimes have connectivity issues if you’re in a highly RF saturated area.
Ooof. I have Bass Waza Airs. Yeah, I guess technically they could work with QC but they are the most awful tuned headphones I’ve ever had on my head. Huge midbass bump around 100-200hz, indistinct and lacking high end. Very convenient, very awful sounding.
I guess you could also use any sort of wireless in-ear monitoring system to the same effect. I got these off Amazon and they work well enough for if I want to practice wirelessly with wired headphones. 90ft range, 20Hz-20kHz frequency response.
Bluetooth won’t work due to high and variable latency issues…
I use the AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Wireless headphones and I’m happy with the 16ms latency which is practically imperceptible to me. Very good sound quality and no wires!
