Upgrate Quad Cortex

It’s been almost two months since the new upgrade for the Quad Cortex was announced. Does anyone know when it will happen?

Nope, nobody knows (except NDSP and Testers that have a NDA).

It could be anytime between end of June to December…
NDSP said that they would post something in the ‘news’ section of their site when the 4.1 update is ‘soon to be released’ (‘soon’ meaning : between weeks to months , depending on the bugs encoutered during test…)

Don’t hold your breath, they made the ‘announcement’ during the April sales period in order to boost the sales (it makes sense from a business point of view, no jugement) , but they did not say that the 4.1 update would be released ‘soon’

It’s taking longer in between major updates on the QC but the updates are packed with more stuff. Upcoming CorOS 4.1.0 will be a big one with five PCOM releases at once, plus free devices.

I just want the QoL updates. I feel like my QC is where my analog rig was before I added Morningside midi controls to squeeze more out of my devices. Please implement full midi controls!!

In my opinion, MIDI works flawlessly in the Quad Cortex. The MIDI command calculator is very convenient. I haven’t experienced any drawbacks with MIDI. Maybe you need a little time for a more detailed study, and all your doubts about this will disappear.

What midi they have implemented works fine. But i would like to assign more than 2 exp controls. Be able to adjust any parameter with midi, etc. Its a digital device and it should be feasible.

I know the midi commands quite well as i use almost all of them.

Its great that you are satisfied with the midi. I am happy with the QC. I knew what I bought. But i can get more out of the QC if they implelement fill midi control. For me, that is more useful than another drive or amp.

There’s an enormous number of requests for more MIDI features for the QC which haven’t been implemented or addressed by Neural at all.

What is the midi command calculator? And where do you access it? Sounds useful.

The midi is pretty rudimentary with the QC unfortunately. Pretty annoying they haven’t done really any updates to it in 5-6 years

Simply providing more than 8 stomp CC controls would be big help. I use an MC8 with QC, but am still limited to 8 stomp switches. All those blocks and no way to control them.

Another big help would be tap and hold on the switches we have. Ideally something like FM9 layouts is needed to manage such a complex and capable device.

The MIDI PC calculator help you easily determine the correct PC message to trigger a given preset. It is found here: Quad Cortex MIDI PC message calculator - Neural DSP

Probably very soon, because the new update will add support for more plugins, which should increase plugin sales.

I don’t think we have any reason to believe it will be “very soon”. This is the only thing we know about the release:

We will share more about this update as we get closer to the launch date.

And since we haven’t seen those details, we must not be close to the launch date.

Update about the next Update was April 21st. Not a peep since. This bugs me, the way they do this. They could at least tell us where the current firmware is in its development stage and tell us a few tidbits about it to wet our appite and give us hope and that they care enough to let us know something, anything!

In this post, it is advised that version 4.1 is in beta. Taking into account the history of Neural DSP beta testing, we’re probably 1 - 2 months away from the final release.

The 4.1.0 update will have the biggest group of PCOM plugins yet (FIVE) so it’s entirely possible that the Beta testing will be more extensive than previous updates, resulting in a longer time to the production release. I hope not but just being realistic.
