Currently I have to have a BOSS SY-1 in one effects loop, and my Mesa Boogie tube amp in the other with the 4CM. I would rather use my second fx loop for an Earthquaker Devices Sunn O))) Life Pedal V3, because I don’t expect the unit to ever be capable of mimicking that. But I do expect synth functionality from it. It’s trying to be an all in one, well that’s part of it. When I requested this of neural in email, they told me “what do you mean? We already have subharmonic synth for bass?” and that was very insulting and frustrating.
Synth block is teased from the begining so it has to come but when…
It was supposed to be almost done but some time ago and no news then…
I own a SY-300 which is cool (totally not as good as it should be cause the lack of updates…) but i’m waiting more from neural, more in the Meris territory, i have to be dreaming.
I’m holding out for the rabea, but would take any onboard synth, for me it’s the only missing piece
The subharmonic synth block in the QC is definitely not a synth, it just generates an octave distortion tone that sounds similar to square-wave oscillators in synthesizers.
Some time ago a screenshot turned up of a “proper” synthesizer block in the QC which showed a choice of oscillator and filter types. It looked awesome. But it was unclear if or when it would ever get released.
In the meantime, the new MXR Bass Synth is the most complete synth pedal I have ever tried. Works on guitar, too. Check it out.
Totally agree, having something of the quality of BOSS SY-1 would be spectacular in our Quad Cortex
