Summing to mono

Continuing the discussion from Archetype Petrucci Doubler problem:

Which is the best way to sum to mono?

I’d try doing it in your DAW. I use Ableton and you can just throw a Utility at the end of your chain and have it sum to mono my clicking a button. I can’t say for certain that this will work, but give it a shot.

No matter how you sum to mono, there could be issues with some blocks. The best way is to build the patch using mono blocks where possible. Alternatively, test the patch with both stereo and mono outputs. You may find that some blocks will need changes to the width parameter to make the sum to mono in a nice way.

Thanks, it’s easy in the DAW, I meant live work, and I solved the problem by asking a competent technician to build a summing DI with transformers - problem solved!
