I love to have the chance to use presets of the plugins, instead of building one from scracth. For instance recently I’m listening Plini a lot and the general sound is increadable. I know what to do for guitar tones, his presets of Plini X mostly does the job.
Considering I’m using the drums and bass tones with Vst plugins, do you have any suggestions? Is there any quick ways to achieve similar great tones out of box? I’m not a type that can do sound engineering or deep dive into tweaking programs etc. So easy and short advices would be so helpful
If I can make someone plays bass for me maybe the Parallax will do the job. But for the drums currently I have Addictive Drums 2 and Trilian for bass. I know it’s not possible to do magic with these I just wonder if anybody have any advices to get closer as possible.
P.s. Wouldn’t it be lovely if Ndsp launches a drum vst like Archtypes
There’s not really a fast track to spectacular mixed drum sounds “out of the box”, and that’s kind of by design. Plug-ins like Addictive Drums 2 and EZDrummer 3 (which is what I use) are intended to give you the raw and unprocessed sounds of mic’d up drums, which typically don’t sound impressive on their own.
It’s up to you to mix from there. You can try adding compression to the whole kit to make it louder, or add some grit, or “glue” it together as you’ll hear a lot of producers say. Looks like AD2 has a compressor in its effects section already. Your DAW certainly has one of its own. Get familiar with it.
EZDrummer has an option which allows you to output the drum tracks individually instead of all together. I love this because I can apply different amounts of EQ and compression to the kick and snare separately, and then send them to a drum bus where I apply compression the whole kit. Sounds awesome. I’m unfamiliar with AD2, though. Might be good to check if it can output individual tracks.
The learning curve can be a little steep, but there are a million YouTube videos available on mixing (and drum and bass mixing in particular). Going down the rabbit hole will only help you. Also, you shouldn’t have to spend more money to get good sounds.
I can’t thank you enough for this deep detailed comments and valuable informations, appreciated a lot
This made me a great path to follow to learn new stuff and improve. I better start watching some Youtube videos as a starting point Thanks again so much.
