Run Nano through Fryette PS2A?

Hi folks. One of the things I envisioned that would be possible to do is that once I captured my amps I would be able to run them into my Fryette PS2A Power Station and line out them to a PA or whatever. It turns out the PS2A will not allow you to take a line in and go out the line out. The line out will only provide the signal coming from the amp in and there is no amp out type signal from the Nano to go to that input. Is there any way to accomplish what I want to do? Thanks.

Why not just send the second output from the nano to the in house PA system ? I’m not sure if they implemented it, but they might be adding the feature to have one output have an IR and the other have no IR soon.

Another option is to get an IR box to plug the second output to, such as the M-vave IR Box, and run that to the PA system (it even has xlr out)

Hi,

why don‘t you use the FX send, which is for both inputs? And as a user of exact this configuration I have to say, that the best sounding alternative is to mic up the signal from the box. But that‘s maybe a matter of taste.

I’ve had to re-read this a bunch of times, and pull up the manual for the PS-2A, to understand what it is you’re trying to do.

  • PS-2A Line In: Takes in external line level signals. This is what you want to plug your Nano output into.
  • PS-2A Amp In: Meant to accept the power output of another amplifier. Do not use in this case.
  • PS-2A Line Out: Converts the signal of whatever power amp is plugged into the Amp In jack, and makes it available as a line level output. You are correct, it does not connect to Line In.

OK, sorry to rehash all that. Just wanted to make it more clear.

I’m assuming you want to have a non-IR signal going to the PS-2A and a physical speaker cabinet, and a separate IR signal going to FOH, correct? At the moment the Nano does not have that capability to split its two outputs as IR / non-IR. However, it appears that Neural are working on it. (See the Ola Englund video linked inside of the thread below.)

In the meantime, if you’re going with non-IR output from your Nano into the PS-2A and still want to use the other output, you may need an external IR box before sending to FOH. Credit to @Igigi for bringing up the M-vave IR Box. If you want a fancier unit with more options, look at the Two Notes Torpedo C.A.B. M+.

Hey there. Really appreciate the time you took with that response. I don’t think I’m explaining myself very well is the issue. I’m getting ready to start playing with some new people. They want to keep stuff down and use modelers. If it were up to me I’d bring my Marshall and my cab and we’d be good. What I was envisioning without having done it yet was buying this Nano Cortex, running that into my PS2A to get some tube warmth then out of that into a PA or whatever we’re going to be using. The main goal for this is to try to use the PS2A in the middle of the Nano and the PA just to get the tubes in there. I’ve done captures with and without the PS2A and it makes a difference so I’m assuming that same difference would be great using with whatever my output is as well. I’m not a big modeling guy. I would trade a tube amp and all the annoyances there are over a modeler but that’s not where things are going  Thanks!
