Bumping again. Please vote for this.

New to QC as of today coming from Helix. I used the admittedly mid-tier at best bitcrusher on the helix in many of my patches. I’m surprised not to see one here. I have a Zoia so I’ll have to sort out one on there as a hopefully temporary solution. Plenty of ring mods on Zoia at least.

Formally requesting a bitcrusher and ring mod.

Thank you! I’m hoping this shows up on the next big update.

After dialing in some tones on FM3 and Novelists Kernel plugin using Ring Mod - we BADLY need this on QC as soon as possible. Just check out some of Novelists new Album ā€œCodaā€ … So Neural DSP - please come up with a Ring Mod on QC! Thanks in advance.

Totally. I’ve been in love with Ring Mod since first hearing Vernon Reid use it in 1990. Then hearing Wayne Krantz use it regularly was just awesome.

Push … RING MOD wanted

Thanks everyone. We’re long overdue for this.

Would absolutely love to have a ring mod/bit crusher! I really want a glitchy noise button on my quad but it seems impossible to do (any suggestions let me know)

Seeing as the new Mantra-plugin was announced featuring a bitcrusher is proof that you can do it!

Please add a bitcrusher (and a ring mod!) to the QC!

as an added insult though- none of the Mantra architecture is compatible with the QC, so I’m not so sure it’s doable at all

I never really chime in on these things, but did anyone else expect any brand new plugins to be designed to work on the QC from the get go?
I dont mind at all that it isnt compatible, my QC does everything I need and more, but im guessing I just assumed new things would be designed for both architectures simultaneously

About a year ago, Dan said this: ā€œThere might be a reason a plugin cannot be added to QC. But the amp suites should all come eventually,ā€
I thought maybe he was referring to older Archetypes, or something like Rabea where the Synth might be too much for the QC to handle; I thought it applied to the pre-existing plugins at the time.
But now I see he was probably talking about Mantra.

I wasn’t expecting new plugins that aren’t even intended for QC integration.
Especially with PCOM as big of an issue/priority as it supposedly is.

Back to ring modulation and bitcrushing, there’s no reason why it can’t be implemented in QC. It just wouldn’t be a direct port from the bitcrush function in Mantra, for example.

I started a free trial of Mantra to see what can it do overall–it’s well laid out, SUPER easy to use, and fun. Mantra represents a significant ā€œbang for the buckā€ in terms of the wide range of controls it has. Over time I think it will be considered a classic if you can say that about plug-ins.

That said, I know a few of us got excited when Neural announced a bitcrush function inside of Mantra. It’s the ā€œDigitalā€ distortion mode inside the Saturation portion of the plug-in. In Digital mode, the gain control works by changing the sample rate. I appreciate that they included mix and output gain controls, but it Is missing a bit depth control that would be typically found on most bitcrushing effects.

A fully featured bitcrusher block for the QC should have sample rate AND bit depth controls, and of course we need the filtering (we need high cut as well!), mix, and output gain controls.

Neural is really good at laying out a nice and simple UI, that’s awesome

Also just got an account to respond to this. We need a ring modulator!
