Right on, that’s the kind of info I was also looking for!
When I had headrush prime… On there forum at the time there was complaing about the volume of the markii not being as loud as the mk1.. The answer from headrush was to turn the cab all the way up and use your modeller for volume…
And just went to take a look to be sure I remember correctly.. They and the community say you gotta run the frfr108 mkii at least 80% or higher when using it.. And use your pedal for desired loudness
That would blow me away, mine is the original not the ii but i don’t think there is that much difference. I’d have to turn the QC way down and that would increase the S/N ratio. I get a full response out of the Headrush sitting on 5 and it goes to 11. At 7 I’m way too loud to be comfortable.
Yes the mk1 is not the same as the mk2..
Although I don’t use them myself I have tried them both and I needed to turn the mk2 up alot more… I was just speaking to a mate who uses both in a stereo setup on stage and he confirmed I was right…but he only needs to check the headrush forum there is more info on it there… Measure twice cut once to be sure
Also reading through it… It looks like he has the wrong power supply so he looking into that 1st…
Further reading seems they changed the taper because there were complaints about accessing the volume knob during gigs and thus the set to 8-9 and control from input device. They are both rated at 129db at max.
Ye I never said there db rating was any different just there design is…volume on the newer unit needs to be turned up more
So was your mate able to balance them OK? Looking at the spec they catch up with each other at max level did the controls allow that? Not that I would be running them full blast in my 300 sq/ft studio!!!
I’m leaning on replacing my MK i with either a Fender or Spark or else getting another 108 and running stereo then it would be a decision between a MK i or mix it up with a MK ii.
Ye he was able to balance them he said but as mentioned the mkii had to be up alot more… He uses them live every week and is happy enough he said does the job… But I can’t confirm for you only going on what he says
Set the volume on the QC at 100%, I had the same issue until I did this.
I believe his issue was the power supply was only 9V. I have no problems using my master vol on the QC as a volume/attenuator and run it between 75% - 100% depending on guitar and mood at the moment.
just wanted to give a quick update on the situation, sorry for the delay I was away for work for a few weeks. I just received the new power supply from the store where I bought it, and all my issues were instantly resolves, the headrush is now putting out alot of volume! thanks everyone for their help!
Thanks for the update! I figured you would be solid once you replaced that PS. Good news!
