Preset Leveling Tool

Would love a global tool that could analyze a preset for its output level. Perhaps it could offer a visualization of the parts of the preset that are giving the most output and offer to either adjust it for you to a predetermined point, or offer tips/tools to level. No modeling company has really tackled this that I’m aware of. As a former owner of one of the other modelers, there was a tool that showed output DB over a preset but that was about it.

Output level for sounds in every preset depends heavily on the strength of the persons playing and pickup output. I see a bunch of people post stuff like this, and they never factor that stuff in. The outputs of this stuff isn’t ever the same with every guitar/pickup choice.

I will say it’s easy to see the output of sounds if you open the I/O menu or record your sounds into a daw and pay attention to the db meter in there.

Yes. That’s true. This is how I do it, into an RME and look at the levels in TotalMix. However my suggestion would be something similar to what Fractal offer on their software. It’s basically that without the DAW. But not everyone has a DAW to mess with or the know how. Simplifying this process is something that I think the market would really appreciate and is desired. There’s a lot of questions on forums and YouTube videos on the many methods to do this.

This topic has come up before. There’s an existing request for normalizing volume mostly between scenes within a preset. A lot of input from several different folks, highly recommended read.

It’s a tough call because our perception of volume is so dependent on EQ, playing style, and the guitar itself.

Hey…thanks for reaching out!
It’s an interesting topic…In fact I no longer use a QC…I ultimately found that I just couldn’t get the feel I wanted…tonally it was ok but it always felt “off” I eventually resolved the levels issue by reducing all the patch output levels by 6db… once I did that it gave me somewhere to go do I could easily add perceived volume… I’m still fascinated but I’m too old to change I think… maybe there’s a genuine solution in software but I don’t see it yet…
Cheers

For sure. There certainly could be a means to create a preset and have its output measured as the reference track. Then compare other presets to that preset.

All I’m saying is that this is a common issue with modeling and it’s a problem that can be tackled. Perhaps Neural will be the ones.
