Thank you. Totally understandable and appreciate you running these tests as well.
One item I cannot get past is I did not have this issue before the last update to remove online requirement from the app. The issue appeared after the update. No new devices were added to my home during this time.
In the instances of these dropped connections my expectation is the nano would be able to re-pair seamlessly and instead we have to do a power cycle reset to clear the slate.
my expectation is not that they solve the dropped connection but that they solve re establishing the connection without a hard reboot.
Interesting the airstep as an example has an app but you dont need to use it after you chose a setting sounds seems like an advantage over the chocolate which i love and use on other pedals. I was wondering if the chocolate requires a specific order like the airstep to get a stable connection? You have to connect to the airstep and the nano first you canāt connect to the nano phone app first or itās unstable? That said when an airstep is connected, and you start the nano app on your phone up shows a second device to chose to connect to. The device option āAirstep cortexā along with the standard āNano Cortexā device. It auto choses the Airstep Cortexā in the app device window not the original one . Maybe all this shows the connection is quite difficult for footswitches and airstep did it this way for that reason. I hope itās something simpler for the chocolate though like order of startup. Anyway just a few thoughts maybe one will trigger and idea that works. We live in hope.
The blue ring of death keeps spinning here too with latest firmware. A bit too often. Weirdly this almost never happen when Nano is connected to my M1 laptop, but when iām āoff siteā this keep happening almost everytime. I mainly use a power bank to power nano thru usb c and using my iPhone 15 to pair.
Feels like thereās no problem if I donāt shut down iPhone display and just keep cortex cloud open, preventing it to go idle. But as soon as I start to do other things with my phone and shutting screen etcā> connection drops.
Iāve also run into this problem with the single effects pedal lately. It seems restarting is the only solution. I use an iPhone 15 Pro, paired with a 12V 1000mA power adapter.
Iāve had the issue powered both via USB C and 9v from a CIOKS supply.
itās definitely an issue that was not present in the earlier firmware, Iāve been using it the same way since nanoOS 2.0 was released.
i really hope NDSP acknowledges the issue is something they can fix on their side with clever workarounds even if the issue is, as they claim, with Bluetooth interference and the environment.
Based on my experience using the Nano Cortex so far, connection drops occur when I power it by connecting two 500 mA outputs from a power supply using a current doubler. Connection drops also occur when powering it via USB-C from a MacBook Pro.
I have not experienced any connection drops yet when using a USB-C fast charger rated at 2500 mA or higher, but I donāt think using this kind of power supply is a typical setup.
If this issue did not occur in the previous firmware, it likely means that something in the code modified during the last OS update introduced the problem. I think it would be good for Neural DSP to take a closer look at this area.
I recently used a multimeter to measure the voltage of the Nano Cortex. I connected the red probe to the casing of the DC port and the black probe to the outer shell of the connecting cable, and the reading was approximately 11.75 V. When switching tones, the voltage drops to around 8 V before returning to the original value. If the device loses connection, the voltage fluctuates at roughly 10 V.
Has anyone else run the same tests to verify this? I suspect the system adjusts power distribution: it cuts power to the Bluetooth module when switching tones, which causes disconnection. Reconnecting requires restarting the power supply for the Bluetooth module. Feel free to take measurements and see if this conclusion holds.
Hello, I bought my unit 2-3 weeks ago and I am experiencing the same exact issue. During 2-3h session my device loses connection with Cortex Cloud 2-7 times.
Tried everything, different power supplies (iPhone chargers and original QC power supply). Reinstalled the app several times, unpaired the device several times. Performed factory reset several times. Doesnāt matter if the app is active or in the background (although my app doesnāt have an option to allow it running in the background).
Same problem on iPhone 16 and 17.
I have opened a ticket with NDSP support, but all the steps they provided did not resolve my issue
