Mini VS full Quad toggle button settings

Hi! I use a Quad, and have a separate program for every song. Program changes are sent to it via midi from my Nord keyboard, which runs my sets. I stay in scene mode on my Quad, and every program only uses scenes E through H, as those toggle buttons are on the front of the Quad, and I only require 4 scenes.

For shows that I have to fly to, I’m thinking of picking up a Mini. For every program that I load, will I have to switch the buttons every time to toggle scenes E through H, instead of A to D? Ideally I’d like to be able to globally set the Mini so that the toggle switches are automatically set for E to H for every program, instead of defaulting to A to D.

I would like to port my Quad backup onto the Mini, with no reprogramming necessary on the Mini.

Thx!

You could send a page II message with each program Change maybe?

Personally, I’d like an option to have a mode with all 8 switches on the screen so we can use a separate MIDI controller and still see the same screen as the original QC.

I’d have to reprogram every setup in my Nord, if even possible. That would be literally hundreds of programs. I like your idea of the 8 switches on the screen though.

I am thinking of getting a QC mini as a backup for my main QC albeit on a smaller pedalboard. Based on your experience: provided I only use MIDI from our backing tracks sequencer to switch presets (songs as you do) and scenes within the song, can I simply restore the mini with the QC backup and I’m done / no other programming needed?

thanks

Hi! I have two minis now. They are duplicated, one is an emergency backup.

I use scene mode for shows, and only use 4 scenes. I have altered my Gtr patches to only use scenes A thru D. As you know the mini only has 4 physical foot switches.

If you use more than 4 scenes, the mini will be a good backup, but more limited screen and button wise than your full quad cortex.

You can indeed restore a full size quad backup to a mini. No issues, no conversion necessary.

If you only use scenes E thru H (bottom row) of the full quad, you can keep the mini on scene view II (E thru H). So you’ll see the same scenes on your mini. When you change programs (for me next song) it will remain on the last view used - scene mode screen I or scene mode screen II.

Hopefully this answers your question. I’m on the road playing a show trying to navigate this with my phone well past midnight…

Thanks for taking the tine to answer, I appreciate.

That is good news, I will probably order a mini then and maybe rethink the way I use the QC although, as I drive everything by MIDI, I think I an live with scene view 2 in case I need ro di some thing manually.
