Thanks for the update and details! I’m sure support will review and hopefully determine the sources of the backup issues.
I started having trouble yesterday with mine. Worked fine for local backups till then, but now it crashes and reboots. CoCo itself crashes itself more often now too, it’s almost like there’s a cumulative buildup but I haven’t really changed anything on this mac since CoCo was released
Neural support has been fairly responsive. After I pinged them again, they came back to me and said that they have passed on to the developers, but they need to hear back from dev. I find it hard to believe that the developers are not jumping on this, since I think this gives them a way to consistently reproduce the bug in Cortex Control.
I once reported the very same issue 4 times, using different mail addresses over a period of half a year.
Every time the response was „we never heard of this issue“ „I will forward this to the devs“ and „we can’t reproduce this issue“. I sent them videos, pictures, data, etc.
And every time after the initial few mails back and forth they went silent.
When bringing up the issue again after months of silence, using the same mail address as before, I found myself being asked the very same questions and it felt like they never even read my previous mails.
Yeah, I think that there are a lot of folks who are having issues with Cortex Control. It seems pretty buggy, yet there does not seem to be much focus on addressing the bugs. I think that local backup is major feature. It does not work. The developers have a way to reproduce the bug, yet they do not seem to be doing anything to address this major bug in a major feature. Of course, without any communication, it is hard of any of us paying customers to really know what is going on, so we are just left to speculate…
… and speculating is a big no-no as we know on this forum. And that’s the way the cookie crumbles.
I heard from Neural support today.
This is what they said: " Our team has been able to replicate the issue, and are on the last stages of validating a fix.
Hopefully we will be able to confirm this shortly, but we don’t want to make any promises until this is fully validated."
I’m really looking forward to being able to do a local backup with Cortex Control… I hope this bug fix comes in the next release!
That’s interesting. I’m curious what exactly causes this bug.
I just did a local backup yesterday (M1 Mac, latest OS, latest Cortec Control), without any problems.
Try backing up again with this new build released today, it seems to have fixed whatever issue I was having on an old iMac
I just tried local backup after upgrading The Q/C to ver 3.2.0 and C/C to ver 1.3.0. Cortex Control still crashes when trying to do a local backup. This really sucks.
I’m using a MacBook Pro with a Quad-Core i7 chip … Someone said that local backup works with the M1 chip… Local backup has NEVER worked on my MacBook Pro nor has it worked on my wife’s MacBook Air.
I made a backup before updating (with CoCo 1.2), and another one right after (with CoCo 1.3). Worked fine both times. Mac Mini M2 on Sequoia, using a powered USB3 hub in-between.
