Hi, I have owned the quad cortex for about a year now. Recentely, when I play my guitar through the quad cortex, a couple of hours later I get a bad headache in a specific spot of my head. This happens almost every time Im plugged into my quad cortex. I believe it is grounded, its connected to my studio monitor which is connected to a power strip. I have tried many things but this still happens. Could it be the quad cortex?
Hi, without seeing your setup or how you sit with your QC, I would suspect your sitting position, the angle that you lean over to look at the QC, and/or any potential eyestrain from trying to read the screen long before I would suspect the QC itself. Maybe try taking breaks during your playing session? Try raising/lowering the QC so you can see the screen better? I would experiment to see if any changes happen.
Oh and my credentials? Severe migraine sufferer for almost 29 years.
I’m inclined to agree with fjk1138. Even if your QC had a defect causing it to leak voltage to the chassis, 24 volts with such limited current is hardly enough to even feel, let alone cause illness. Hopefully it’s not an anodized aluminum allergy. When you’re lost in guitar land, it’s easy to forget about things like posture or eye strain.
Anything’s possible; I have heard of modelers causing ear fatigue, and a headache might just be a logical extension of that. I’ve not personally experienced it, but as was suggested above, take regular breaks; maybe 15 minutes for every 30 played.
Over the last few years, my practice sessions are shorter and more focused and are interspersed more with Spotify playing the tunes I need to learn for my band, but in the near future i will be spending more time with my QC and modelers in general, so I might have better advice. But for now, I’d just start with taking breaks and take notes on how you’re feeling.
