What if the Quad Cortex had a IR utility/match EQ built in? Not only you could do DI captures of your amps, you could also do a separate IR!
Many DAWs have EQ matching or impulse response utilities that make it pretty easy to create and mix IRs. The harder part is having the speakers, cabinets, mics and rooms to do good captures.
But I agree, it would be nice to have this utility built into QC.
Do you mind explaining a bit more your idea?
I just think that a small utility on the Quad Cortex to make IR of your gear with nothing else but the Quad would be a nice add-on.
Would a capture thru a flat power-amp/cab/mic be comparable to an IR?
It does it Neural Captures. Are you saying that you want to be able to download the IR behind the Neural Capture?
No, more like having an utility to make my own IRs, but directly with the Quad Cortex, not having to go through a computer.
I would like to turn a capture into an IR. My use-case is that I capture am amp head, and amp cab seperately because sometimes I play through an amp, and sometimes through a FRFR speaker.
The idea of making an IR from a capture is to be able to use it with the NDSP plugins, and to tweak the IR with existing tooling for modifying IRs.
Modifying a capture seems a hit harder.
Just do a capture of what you want to create an IR of?
There’s no reason you can’t have a capture of a power amp/cab/mic setup?
Yea, but the captures are NDSP specific. The IRs are more universal. Besides, I know how I would “clean up” an IR, but the captures are proprietary in nature.
Well… yea? It’s different technology for a different purpose.
