Input gain vs block gain

Just wondering if anyone has perceived a difference in tone and or feel between the input gain verses using a gain block?
I use the QC with different and often low output acoustic pickups. I need to bump up the gain in some cases about 25 db’s.
Being that the input gain is global I’ve been using gain blocks for multiple guitars.
Nerdy question but valid in my experiences. I of course could test this myself but…

I tested myself… Input gain sounds better and adding too much gain (gain blocks or EQ outputs) adds too much noise

It probably does not add any new noise but raises the existing noise (floor) by the amount of dBs you set the gain to. That’s why a very low input signal is never optimal to begin with.

Can you provide more details about the input gain sounding better?
