Help! MIDI idiot here

So I got my quad cortex running perfect with my 5150 in 4 cable method. Got the midi working to switch my amp channels. I decided to get a wireless paint midi captain. And it was almost plug and play. It changes the scenes on my qc perfectly.

So here is my problem.

When I got from F to G on the QC it’s set to switch my amp from the green channel to the blue channel and it does that flawlessly. BUT, when I switch from F to G using the Midi captain, the QC scene changes but it’s not sending the midi command to switch the amp channel.

I hope that’s explaining things well. I’m thinking it’s got something to do with the midi command being tied the the actual foot switch and not the scene.

Anything I can do?

The QC can’t do midi merge presently. It needs to be first or last in the chain, not the middle.
(You can send Midi messages to or thru the QC, but not both simultaneously)

In fairness, it’s an issue with many devices, I remember having similar issues with the TC M-One, for instance. It’s much more a shortcoming of the MIDI norm (that is pretty antiquated at this point) that’s supposed to be solved (amongst other issues) in the oh-so-long-awaited (and several times announced) MIDI 2.0 norm. It’s only been supposed to be “coming this year” for 30 years, at this point…
