Just for my understanding: on the ToneMaster, you were switching presets during a song?
Yes, I had different presets for Highgain Rythm, Lead, Clean, Crunch and Accustic simulation. In some of our songs I use all of them. On the TMP switching between different presets is as fluent as switching scenes on the QC. It even has spill over for time based effects between presets. Therefore I never used scenes on the TMP (which is badly implemented on it compared to the QC).
I still hope they support gapless switching at some point … I need to freeze “ambient noise” between presets …
My Fractal AM4 has no gapless switching between Presets. And no gapless switching between Scenes. It has what they call Gapfill. They fill the gaps with sound. It doesn’t work for me.
The only device I know that’s gapless between presets is Kemper, and I guess that’s because their presets are very light.
I don’t know if Boss and others are gapless between presets.
Helix can do it, but you have to make your preset just one of the two DSP cores.
I thought there was gapless for FM9, Axe FX III, etc. maybe it’s different for the cheaper/more limited Fractal stuff
Does anyone know if the “Mini” comes with gapless switching and/or spillover? If the Nano can (could) do it, I am naively hoping it can be done by the Mini…
The mini and normal QC do not have gapless preset switching or spillover. They have 8 scenes for each preset which do have gapless switching. Honestly that’s the easiest method to have gapless. There isn’t any difference in basic functionality between the normal QC and mini.
The Nano no longer has gapless switching after a certain firmware update (at least from what I’ve seen people post about it). I think it only had gapless because of a very limited signal path, and it only can use captures instead of amp models.
They have gapless switching (at least may FM3 MK1 after Firmeware-Update 8.0, if I remembered it right). But since you first have to enable this in the global settings and then resave all presets via a batch process after the update, some users think it’s not possible. I can’t say anything about the Am4.
