Feature Request: “Freeze Option” for Presets

I would like to request the addition of a “Freeze Option” for presets on the Quad Cortex. This feature would allow users to lock a preset so that any temporary changes made during performance do not alter the original preset in any way. Especially, what bothers me the most is the appearance of the “*” next to the preset name, indicating that the preset has been modified.

With a frozen preset, switching stomp assignments or switching scenes in hybrid mode or adjusting pedal parameters on the fly, should not be considered permanent or trigger the “changed” state.

Essentially, the feature ensures that a frozen preset is always recalled in its official, unchanged form, no matter what temporary adjustments were made while playing.

Why this feature could be important:

  • It prevents accidental overwriting of carefully crafted presets.

  • It removes the anxiety caused by the constant “*” symbol.

  • It improves workflow in live settings where users make real-time changes but do not want to affect base presets.

  • It allows experimenting freely without fear of losing the sound.

If you make changes on the fly, they are not stored in the preset unless you reach up and tap the save button at the top of the screen.

If you leave a changed preset (indicated with *) and return to it, the changes you had made previously will be lost. No big deal if you’re trying to protect your preset as it was.

There shouldn’t be a need for a “freeze preset” option, unless there’s something else about your request I’m not understanding…

Hi @DiffractionCircuit, first of all thank you for taking the time to respond to my request. You are absolutely right, if I do not press the save button the changes won’t be made permanently to the preset.

For me it’s just a visual/peace of mind thing, because I don’t like to spend the whole concert with the quad cortex thinking I made changes I might want to save (and displaying the * by the preset name) when I obviously don’t want to save them (for example, in stomp mode, activating or deactivating some pedals, etc…)

If it’s just me with this issue I guess I’ll have to live with it.

Just don’t save the preset haha
