I have an expression pedal with foot switch (Hotone Amperp II).
I deally I’d love to use the Expression pedal in two different modes depending
on the switch
a) Switch on. The expression pedal is used to control all of my block parameters spread across multiple blocks (I like to swell into my lead tones). e.g. Gain/Volume, FX mixes, delay times.
b) When I hit the switch. Control of my blocks is set to heel position (or toe should be selectable). A volume block (or any other) is then enabled and the expression pedal just controls that.
Alternatively the expression pedal assignments and functions should be at scene level rather than patch level. So depending on scene the expression pedal controls different things.
Otherwise the only alternative is to go with a dual expression pedal layout, meaning a bigger board.
I tried the Ampero 2 with my QC and eventually gave up as being unsuitable for what I wanted it to do; the main problem is the Ampero 2 switching doesn’t switch the pedal itself internally from being a volume or expression, it’s only switches externally so pressing the toe switch of the pedal can be used to bypass blocks etc, but the pedal itself will always operate in a single mode; this is fine if you assign the pedal to a volume block in tne QC, and then switch that off to assign it to something like the gain of a switchable block like a OD block. But if you’re assigning it to something that is always live, such as increasing the gain on an amp block that will be always on, the trouble then is the pedal will operate as either an expression pedal (controlling the amp gain in this example) AND/OR a volume pedal, either assigned to a volume block or using it as an external volume pedal. You can switch between the two without unplugging and swapping around the cables and if you try to use it as both, it will operate both at the same time, so your volume will increase as the gain increases and vice versa - not at all ideal
This does work to use the switch… you have to have 2 cables and use 1 input from expression and the second exp input for the switch.
