I need to know if in the new midi/expressions command center can we change an amp channels with exp1/2 like in another devices like in helix
If you want the QC to send amp channel change commands, then it already can via MIDI, as long as only one CC/PC is required. The update will allow you to send more than one command per QC footswitch press though.
If you want it to send amp channel changes via jack switching, I don’t believe that is ever going to be possible.
If you want it to receive amp channel change commands (for blocks in the QC), then yes, it can already do this via Midi, expression, footswitch expression etc.
Hi! Jumping in here. I have seen a lot of requests in the search for changing amp channels. Would it be possible to through a new feature request to allow the ability to send an amp channel switch signal through one of the 1/4 expression pedal jacks?
I realize the midi signal is supposed to allow it, but the documentation isn’t clear on how, and it would be much simpler, especially for amps whose channel changing is not handled by midi. I realize one could buy the Suhr Mini Midi controller, but this seems like a pretty simple functionality. Boss has been putting this on their multi-effects pedals for decades for example.
Pretty sure this isn’t possible with the hardware the QC has. Line 6 has an amp switching output on the HX Effects and Helix floor unit. That feature isn’t on their other units, and it’s a different output jack.
This request feels similar to when people were claiming all Neural needed to do for having two stereo fx loops was a basic firmware update. The hardware itself is limited to two mono or one stereo effects loop.
The real workaround here is just using midi
Ok. Do you think they could maybe update the manual with clear steps to set it up? I have been using multi effects pedals for 20+ years, but never dabbled in midi, and in reading the midi section in latest release of the manual, it isn’t very clear as to what settings would need to be used, or even which port to connect to. It would be nice to see the steps if a $120 purchase is required for amps that use 1/4 amp switching, that way users know it’s supported.
There are quite a few people looking for the functionality, so it seems reasonable to have official documentation on it.
Depends what the midi commands for your amp or the suhr would be. Not all devices have the same midi commands. You would need to read the manual for whichever device you plan on using. Then you can see what midi commands to send from the Quad Cortex.
There will be info in the manual or videos on YouTube for whichever amp or midi switcher you choose. The info you’ll need from Neural is how to program midi info to specific footswitches or presets.
Why would jack switching be impossible? I dont have any amps that have jack switching currently but i plan on getting a dual rec and prerty sure it uses jack switching.
Because the expression jack on the QC isn’t designed for that. Just because it’s an expression jack that can recieve expression signals, doesn’t mean it can send the signal you’re thinking to an amp.
If your amp uses MIDI , it should be easy, all you need to know is the proper CC command our amp requires. If your amp switches via a 1/4 inch relay, the expression jack might do the trick, but you have to try to see if that works. Relays are usually on/off, so it might work
