Following the manual, I connected the NanoCortex and Cortex Cloud app.
When I checked the device section, the “A Firmware update is available” banner did not appear.
Yes, Bluetooth communication is enabled and the device is connected via Bluetooth.
Other functions, such as changing parameters through the smartphone, are working fine.
Only the firmware update banner is not appearing.
Thank you for your advice. I have contacted Neural DSP support via email as you suggested.
Also, I tried connecting with a different smartphone (Android 14), but the same issue occurred — the “A Firmware update is available” banner still did not appear.
I’ll update here again if I hear back from support.
Just a quick follow-up on the firmware update issue I posted about earlier.
The problem’s now resolved, so I wanted to share the full context in case it helps someone else down the line.
What was happening
I was trying to update to Nan OS 2.0.0, but the Cortex Cloud app never showed the usual “A Firmware update is available” banner.
I had the latest version of the app, tried both iOS and Android, re-paired, reset… nothing worked.
What I tried with support
I reached out to Neural DSP support, and they were very helpful.
They gave me several things to try:
Reinstall the Cortex Cloud app
Re-pair the device on both iOS and Android
Send a screenshot of the app’s “About” screen
Do a full factory reset again
I followed all the steps, but the issue persisted.
Then, they asked for the serial number of my unit — and that’s when they discovered the device had been flagged as stolen, which was why the update wouldn’t appear.
What actually happened
Neural DSP suggested I contact Kyoritsu, the official distributor in Japan.
Kyoritsu confirmed the unit had been:
Involved in a theft case at a Tokyo retailer in October 2024
The case had been resolved by December 2024
They would submit a request to Neural DSP to remove the stolen flag
A few days later, Neural DSP let me know the flag had been cleared.
I retried the update — and it worked. Nan OS 2.0.0 installed without issues.
Takeaway
Big thanks to Neural DSP support — they were patient and clear the whole time.
If you’re stuck with a NanoCortex that won’t show updates, definitely check the basics first — but don’t forget to send in your serial number if nothing works. That was the key in my case.
