Can I use 3 Exp pedals?

Hey everyone I’m running into some confusion. I’m using a Morningstar MC8 Pro into a QC mini. The MC8 has 4 Omniports and of course using 2 expression with the QC is easy but I’m hoping to have one for volume, one for wah, and then one more for parameter control (gain, wet/dry, etc). The CC commands for the first two are easy obviously because the QC will automatically have you choose to set up Exp 1 and 2. So that’s where I’m getting confused. Can I have the MC8 Pro send a command for me to have additional parameter control of whatever I want? Or am I just stuck with the 2? Thanks!

I highly doubt you can have 3 expression pedals, even via midi. There isn’t any sort of midi command I’ve seen that it would interpret as a third expression. Someone else may know better though

Well you can use a 3rd or even more MIDI expression pedals. I have requested a while ago the implementation of Midi CC#7 which is the all around standard for volume.

Hopefully that will come soon because there is only very little you can control with MIDI in the QC today …

Yes, you can use midi on other modelers or pedals for expression. I was saying I don’t think you can use it to expand to 3 or more expressions pedals on the QC. The wording of your post is a little confusing, since it makes it seem like you currently can at first.

Yeah it was one of those where I knew it was hard to word. So, do you have any suggestions as far as how to send this command from the MC8 Pro to the QC? What I’m hoping now is to use one for wah, one for volume, and the extra one to control the freeze block. Thank you!

To control the freeze, do you mean with an expression pedal, or a button on the MC8?

You’re limited to the 2 expression pedals on the QC regardless if the midi controller can do it with other devices. You can toggle the freeze on/off with a button on the Morningstar. That’s about it unless you are changing parameters between scenes

I use a skinny little twin for a secondary switch, and put a volume pedal in front of all, giving myself the impression of 3 controllers plugged in! Any momentary or latching switch should work for that though.

Oh I’m running all 3 expression pedals into the Morningstar MC8 Pro’s Omni Ports and and the Morningstar into the QC midi in

There is no way to run 3 expression pedals at once with the QC, even if you have a Morningstar or any other midi controller.

The Quad Cortex is very limited with midi. I understand you want to use the third midi controller to adjust parameters in a block, but that it not possible with 2 other expression pedals with the QC.

The Morningstar can do a lot with Midi (I have even owned one with Line 6 Helix which allowed you to basically do whatever you want via midi). But a lot of those features don’t work with the QC.

I hope the upcoming QOL updated in 4.1.0 includes full midi implementation.
