Best expression pedal to use with the plugins

I’m looking for an expression pedal that I can use with my plugins,

I just use them through logic or stand-alone software.

are there some pedals that will work if I plug it in though my interface?

When it comes to plugins, stand alone or VST, the real question is “Do you intend to use the pedal directly or via MIDI controller?”
If the pedal ain’t outputting signal out via USB cable or Bluetooth, you will need to spend extra on a decent MIDI controller like Morningstar.
In that case any middle to high price range expression pedal with non latching …let me repeat NON LATCHING (on-on momentary) toe down switch will do.

Lehle dual expression has a USB connection for this very purpose.

So for the simplest approach to playing on a laptop through the standalone player, is a non-latching USB pedal a good fit, or would there be a major improvement to adding a standalone midi controller (beyond adding more devices)?

I use an FCB1010; has two assignable pedals. Cheap, easy to set up.
