Autogain for Capture Input?

Not sure if this would be possible and or sound good, but I’ve noticed that a lot of captures sound like they are at different volume levels and accept input gain in vastly different amounts (even among similar clean captures). Would there be a way to implement an autogain to keep the input level consistent while doing captures, and would that maybe help with the volume and input gain difference between them? Mostly asking because I use a compressor and drive pedal in front of the NC and on similar amps/combos, low gain drive settings that sound good on one amp sound like a really fizzy fuzz when switched to another. I found that lowering the volume knob on the pedal by a bout half made them similar in tone, hence my thought that it could be an input gain difference in the capture process. What do Y’all think? It might help standardize the capture levels.

at the very least some form of volume normalizing, either on captures or for the final output, would be a massive QOL update.
