I’m very glad with the new update, new amps, new caps, the looper and freeze function
https://neuraldsp.com/news/coros-1-3-0-is-now-availalable
For your convenience, here’s the list op new features and fixes:
CorOS 1.3.0 is now availalable
CorOS 1.3.0 is our most ambitious update yet! It features the heavily anticipated Looper, many new and advanced virtual devices, and plenty of new features such as LED controls, Screen & Volume Lock, Lane Output Mute/Solo buttons, and lots more. The Windows audio driver has also been updated.
There are also some fundamental changes to core functionality, specifically regarding how Scene parameter changes work. It is therefore crucial that you carefully read through the below changelog, specifically the “Changed” section, which details how existing functionality has been changed.
We hope you enjoy CorOS 1.3.0!
Added
Looper
- Up to 4m44s record time.
- Looper block can be placed anywhere on The Grid allowing for creative routing configuration. Use the Routing Mode parameter to change between a Grid-based Looper and a Global I/O Looper.
- Can be used in Preset/Scene/Stomp mode.
- An active loop is persistent through Preset changes, as long as the Preset you are changing to also has a Looper block added.
- Use Perform mode to control the Looper with the footswitches and Params mode to change the Looper’s settings. You can always use the touchscreen.
- Footswitches that have a record function can independently be set to Toggle or Momentary.
- Quantize allows you to sync the looper to QC’s Tempo or to an external MIDI clock.
- Threshold allows the recording function to trigger when an audio signal is detected. Threshold will be disabled when the Looper is receiving MIDI clock.
- MIDI controllable. Many parameters of the looper can be triggered via dedicated CC messages.
Controls:
- Duplicate (create an overdub which is X times longer than your original loop, allowing you to extend your original loop when you are recording an overdub).
- Re-Loop (trim the length of your loop when Duplicate is active).
- One Shot (play the loop once and then stop).
- Half Speed (play the loop at half speed).
- Punch In (replaces the audio).
- Overdub (record).
- Play/Stop.
- Reverse (rewinds the loop).
- Undo (undo the last action).
Freeze
The Freeze effect is now available in the new Morph category in the device menu.
Clipboard
Blocks can be copied by opening the block’s Parameter Editor, tapping the contextual menu, then tapping Copy device. Blocks can be pasted by tapping The Grid to add a new device, then tapping the new Paste Device from Clipboard button. Alternatively, open the Parameter Editor of a device you would like to replace, tap the contextual menu, then tap Paste to replace the device. The Clipboard allows you to copy & paste blocks between Presets.

New Factory Presets
New Factory Presets have been added to highlight new features, replacing older Presets. Any Preset that has been removed has been uploaded to the Neural DSP Cortex Cloud account. Furthermore, some Presets have moved to new slots.
- 6D 4 In 1 has been removed and replaced with the new Captain Morgue.
- 4B Dano Sol has moved to 22F, removing Slow Sol. New Bogna Vishu Clean added to 4B.
- 4D Dual Trverb has moved to 22G, removing California Ch3. New Captain 50 added to 4D.
- 5A Egyptian Dream has moved to 22A, removing Clean Your Toilet. New Brit UBL Lead added to 5A.
- 5H Cinematic Shimmer has been updated. Row 2’s Reverb has been changed to Shimmer.
- 6E Wet Dry Wet has moved to 22B, removing Crunchy Yet Gainy. New Looper X added to 6E.
- 6F Bright Brit has moved to 22C, removing Shooting Star. New Freeze Me added to 6F.
Screen and Volume Lock
Pressing the power button will give you the option to lock the touchscreen and Master Volume knob. While locked, a lock indicator displays at the top-right of the screen. To unlock, press-and-hold the power button.
If the Master Volume knob is moved while locked, the volume will not change until the knob is first turned to reach the value set when the knob was locked.
USB Playback Options
USB Playback headphone feed can be set to None, USB 1/2, USB 3/4, or Both via the I/O Settings screen. This allows you to control the audio sent to the headphones when using Quad Cortex as a USB audio interface.
Tap Tempo LED Control
The Tap Tempo LED can now be disabled/enabled via the Tap Tempo screen.
LED Brightness Control
LED Brightness can be controlled via Settings > Device Options > Brightness.
Double-tap to Bypass
You can double-tap a block on The Grid to change its bypass state.
Mute and Solo
Mute and Solo buttons have been added to the Output lane blocks. These controls can be Scene-assigned or assigned to an expression pedal. A color strip displays on the Output block depending if Mute and/or Solo are activated.
Paired Outputs
Outputs 1&2 and Outputs 3&4 can be paired on the I/O Settings screen. Tapping an output displays the faders for both, but the faders are unpaired. Long-press an output to change the pair state. This setting is automatically saved.
A Mute switch has been added to Out 1, Out 2, Out 3, and Out 4 (linked and unlinked) on the I/O Settings screen.
Tuner
The tuner design has changed to show cent values. The Tuner no longer mutes the main outputs, but instead the selected input(s) fed into the tuner. It is also possible to feed both Inputs 1 & 2 simultaneously to the Tuner. This allows for USB playback and the Looper to continue feeding signal to the outputs while the tuner is being used.
Other Features
The list of additions and changes now shows once you reboot Quad Cortex after updating.
An information button displays next to some parameter titles in the Parameter Editor, showing a popup with further information.
Support for incoming MIDI Clock via MIDI DIN.
A Sync parameter has been added to all Modulation devices, allowing you to sync their effects to the QC’s Tempo or to MIDI Clock via USB or MIDI Din. The Sync Note value is constrained by the Tempo and the SPEED parameter range.
LED colors have been adjusted to more closely match the colors of the devices on The Grid.
Two of the Splitter/Mixer shape shortcuts have been removed. In Scene mode, the Scene navigation menu displays in their place.
Changed
Neural Capture performance has been improved allowing for more Captures to be added in a single Preset.
The Windows driver has been updated, allowing you to choose between Out 1/2 or Out 3/4 for playback. Several issues with audio glitches and performance have also been resolved.
Scene parameter assignment has been overhauled.
- Parameters are no longer assigned to Scenes when adjusting them in Scene Mode.
- Tap-and-hold a parameter to assign it to Scenes.
- Tap-and-hold a Scene-assigned parameter to prompt the unassign dialog.
- Scene parameter assignment/changes can be performed regardless of the current active Mode.
The active Scene is now visible in Gig Mode.
The Scene icon displays in place of the power icon in the Parameter Editor if the bypass is assigned to Scenes.
Two of the Splitter/Mixer shape shortcuts have been removed. In Scene mode, the Scene navigation menu displays in their place.
The power button popup texts have been changed.
A new error message displays if Quad Cortex encounters a UI crash.
A new error message displays if Cortex Cloud encounters a timeout error.
Dragging a block between rows 1-2 and rows 3-4 no longer duplicates the block. This functionality is replaced by the Clipboard.
Gain and level parameters’ minimum value is now “OFF”.
When downloading or uploading a bundled Capture, a prompt no longer displays to overwrite an existing Capture if the existing Capture is identical.
Tapping a block on The Grid while the Parameter Editor is open immediately opens the Parameter Editor for the tapped block.
Several small UI and backend changes.
