Time-synced Freeze or Auto-Freeze - (like on the MXR Textures)

I’m sure a few of you have seen this new MXR pedal.

I think the Auto-Freeze function is really killer and would be a great alternative to the current FREEZE block. In a time-synced Freeze, you could set the time division to be automatically held, i.e. quarter notes, half, 1 measure, 2 measures, etc. With the QC, the tap tempo would set the length of the captures to be stacked.

On the QC, you could set how many freeze ‘stacks’ before the oldest one drops away. So, it would essentially stack Freeze ‘captures’ on top of each other. I think this could be an insanely cool improvisational tool.

For instance, if you had the division set to two measures with a stack limit of 4, every two measures, it would create a new capture, always discarding the oldest. As MXR says in the video, “This results in an evolving infinite pad that follows your playing.”

In this version of Freeze, you start the block and the block does the rest, as opposed to the current Freeze, where every Freeze and un-Freeze requires a footswitch push.

If you think this would be a cool effect, please consider voting for this. Thanks in advance to anyone who gives it a vote!

Does the Hologram Microcosm already do this?

I don’t know if it can do auto-freeze.

seems fairly similar to the GLitch effect from Archetype M Mansoor. Hopefully, anyway!

Reminds me of the chase bliss mood pedal, nice for a special effect, but not something I would use frequently…
