What do you guys use? I’m mainly a bedroom player but sometimes play live when my mate is to ill. My question is, when I play along to music, my monitors (adam audio T7V) sound better than my audio S3V monitors which cost a bomb, is there a secret eq setting i need to know about. Live is no problem has im running through v30 and t75 cabs.
If I’m playing along to music or learning stuff for a gig, I EQ the preset I’m using on my quad cortex in the DAW to hear what I can since, since it’s just pumping out by the monitors anyhow. It’s rare that I do this but if I’m playing with headphones, I’d take the song I’m learning and import them into my DAW and have two tracks: one with the song that I imported in, and the other can be my quad cortex or archetype plugin or whatever. Then, you can just use the channel EQ in the DAW as I mentioned to tweak what you want on the imported track, so that your preset stands out more.
I don’t give it too much thought beyond that. I spend a lot of time making presets I like, so when I use those, I just balance the volume level that’s desirable to my ear between the track and my guitar. Just basic level adjustment, and then when it sounds good to my ears, let 'er rip.
For reference: I play through some Mackie CR monitors when on my computer where I run Logic Pro. For real volume, I plug into my Sommatone Roaring40 cab (loaded with an Eminence Cannabis Rex 16ohm 50W speaker, which I drive by a Seymour Duncan PowerStage 170). Hopefully this was some help. Cheers
Thanks for the advice, I’ll give the DAW idea a go tomorrow and see if there’s any difference. I don’t usually run through a DAW has my QC is connected to my 18i20 and run everything through that
