Seamless mono to stereo switching

How do I switch from a mono distorted rhythm guitar tone to a stereo lead tone? I am outputting 2 XLR cables to mix/FOH.

I have tried switching between presets to accomplish this, but the audio drops out while the new preset loads, and I need the change to be instantaneous/seamless.

I have read that switching presets during a song is not good and that I should use scenes instead. How do I do this?

I want a mono rhythm tone that I can hardpan to one side and seamlessly switch to a stereo center lead tone without audio dropout.

Thank you

Two options, all within a single preset:

  1. Click and hold your output on the far right. This should open the Lane Output Control. Then click and hold the Pan control. This will allow you to set different pan settings for different scenes. Set it hard panned left or right for mono rhythm and centre for stereo leads.
  2. Ignore the above. This will send out stereo leads as normal, and dual mono rhythm, i.e., both XLR cables will carry the identical signal for your rhythms. Then the FOH person can deal with it how they want.

Best option is to ask your FOH person which they would prefer, then setup your preset to accommodate.

It’s pretty easy to do actually. Use a stereo cab or IR loader, and use scenes.

The trick is to scene-assign (long click on the pot on the QC, right click in CoCo) the pan setting of either one or both of the “mics” or IRs. On your Rhythm scene, hard pan both to the same side, so they’ll fold to straight mono, hard panned. And on your Lead scene, hard pan them L/R. Done. And it’ll switch instantly and seamlessly.

Note that if you want to get mono, but centered (same thing going out of both XLRs), you just have to pan both to the middle and achieve exactly the same thing.
