Quad cortex with powerstage 700 into 4x12

Hey guys, thanks for letting me join. First timer here. Just got a PS700 to run my QC into my mesa 4x12 ans 2x12 cabs. Any info on the best route to go would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tom

Obviously don’t use IRs and or cab blocks and you may need to tweak (e.g. hipass/lowpass filters) your EQ. I would also try to use the Global EQ as much as possible which will make things much easier. I have signals running to mixer/PA/FOH and to FX return on my 5150 which works great. Otherwise, enjoy!

When using a global EQ, be mindful which outputs it’s applied to or it will affect all signals and you might not want that. e.g. FOH might want less EQ than that going to the cab - or vice versa.

Thank you very much. You wouldn’t happen to have a pic of your setup?

Any picz of your setup? Im running my guitar to the quad #1 input. Running ch.3&4 of the quad to the inputs on the ps700. Outputs of the ps to inputs of the cabs. One output to each cab. Does your differ?

I use the powerstage 700 as well for guitar and bass.

Not a lot to tell really…plug it all in and enjoy!! Some things I picked up from SD forums;

It can’t do bridged mono. If you only have one cab plugged in, make sure only the corresponding input is in use.

Cab impedance can be mismatched - they’ve had one in the SD offices for years with two wildly different cabs, and it’s chugging along happilly.

If you’re unsure how much power your speaker can take (if you’re way below the 700W - one in my 2x12 is only 30W) - run a clean tone, and slowly turn the volume up until it starts to break up, dial back slightly and that’s your limit. I didn’t find the limit FWIW, it got painfully loud, so unless I gig a particularly massive venue, I’m never going to have to worry.
