I’ve been using the Quad Cortex about a year now. Great unit.
I find myself frequently changing my output block on presets despite there being a Multi Out option. I sometimes need to plug into an external interface, other times I plug into a mono FRFR, and other times I’m going into to two studio monitors.
At first I tried to just leave everything on Multi Out, but then I would walk into problems with stereo routing.
So then I tried to categorize my presets by mono and stereo, making sure everything sums to mono on the mono versions.
Then I started putting both types of IR blocks to sort of do that for me and clicking which one I needed.
All of this slows down things in a jam scenario, so I guess what I’m trying to ask: Do you have recommendations for what to avoid if I want to just keep Multi Out on all the time? I just wish that the QC could detect I’m only going mono out sometimes and sum automatically. Maybe that’s too big of an ask and I don’t realize it.
if you put this cab capture (a blank IR/transparent capture) at the end of your row, you can use the Global Cabinet bypass function to toggle between Stereo and Mono summing for all presets containing the capture. It would essentially make all your presets mono until you disabled the cab capture from the Global menu:
Oh wow, that’s very clever, thank you. Some of my presets use stock IRs… but this change makes it worth swapping them over I think. So you just place it last in a Multi Out row then, and bypass when you want it to be in stereo?
