Is it possible for the Nano Cortex to support NDSP plugins down the road?

Will it ever be possible for the Nano Cortex to support NeuralDSP plugins down the road, or are there technical limitations that will always prevent this?

I like some of the plugins and would lean more towards purchasing them for studio and DAW use, if there was a possibility they could run on my NC at some point. And it would be good to know also if there was a technical barrier that will always prevent this.

This is on the FAQ section.

Will Plugin Compatibility (PCOM) ever be released on Nano Cortex?

No, Plugin Compatibility (PCOM) will not be implemented on Nano Cortex. This is because Neural DSP plugins use amp modeling technology, which differs significantly from the Neural Capture technology that Nano Cortex uses. Additionally, Nano Cortex has a fixed signal chain, which also prevents Neural DSP plugins from running on it.

Thanks for the response. Darn, I like the NDSP ecosystem, and prefer the NC over the QC. I wonder though why the fixed signal chain would prevent PCOM. Plugins also seem to have a fixed signal chain.

The NC can’t even load the more simple amp models that the QC has. The PCOM models use a lot more DSP than the normal QC models. I think they just made the NC only able to load captures since they are way easier. Seems that’s the focus for the NC, esp with the ability to make your own captures with it.

For PCOM in the QC, the plug-in blocks are separated so you can move them around any way you like.

I don’t know why the NC’s fixed signal chain would prevent PCOM capability, but I concur with others that the plug-ins use a high amount of DSP that the NC likely could not handle.

No, but you can capture your presets (without delays, reverbs and so on…) I do that and the result is pretty good
