Inputs started making digital noise, ASIO playback works great

Hi all,
I’ll probably reach out to neural soon but wanted to see if anyone here might be able to help.

I’m experiencing a digital-sounding distortion from the guitar inputs on my Quad Cortex. This affects both inputs. The noise is tied to my guitar signal (meaning, not playing - no noise). This happens even when using a completely empty preset and with normal input gain levels.
Please see these two links sound samples:

  1. Quad cortex recording - I have used the Quad as ASIO device and recorded how an empty preset sounds directly to my DAW. This is the same sound I get when I only plug in my headphones and guitar to an empty preset, so I don’t think this is an ASIO driver issue or something like sample rate.

  2. PreSonus Studio 24c recording - I have used the same guitar, cable, and recorded about the same thing directly to my DAW, this time with my PreSonus interface. Notice how it sounds perfectly clean.

Here’s what I’ve tested:

  • Tried two different guitars (one active, one passive)
  • Swapped multiple known-good instrument cables
  • Used completely blank presets (no amp, no effects)
  • Confirmed input is not clipping in the I/O meter
  • Performed full factory reset
  • Trying to restart the device and play with no USB connected
  • Running latest firmware (no update available)
  • Spotify or any playback via USB sounds perfectly clean

This issue started randomly today, I didn’t change anything in my setup,
Does anyone here have an idea on how to fix this?
