Some great tips, especially for those who are new to modeling. Even some useful concepts for digital veterans.
Best one for me is - dialing in the āfinalā settings within a live environment.
Having a good pair of studio monitors at home is one thing, but hearing the sound iāve created at stage volume is a completely different world. (iāve learned this myself at the first show with it haha)
My relatively simple solutions:
- gig volume sounds drier. I have delay and reverb mix on an EP. Easy to make things as wet or dry as I want on the fly.
- gig volume is edgier. When I made the modeler jump I used HPF around 80hz, LPF around 6-7khz. I still had way too much fizz for my taste on a gig. Now I use an LPF around 4khz on the cab block. and also have an eq block last in the chain that I can tweak on the fly. While 4khz sounds low, the filter isnāt a brick wall, and I find that is much closer to a real guitar cab.
Everybody has different preferences, but for me, I really donāt want much above 5khz getting reproduced. Ymmv.
Excellent tips, thanks for sharing! I also recommend checking out the presets shared in the video, they seem to be dialed in nicely!
I used Josh Middletonās video to dial in my tone. And itās the first time Iām happy with my sound. https://youtu.be/HkSgTTGhwk0?si=CAnadx0gljoAKtej
