Good output device

Hello folks,

Just got my Nano Cortex and a Strandberg Boden Essential 6. I am a hobbyist guitarist.

I am looking for small, decent, and reasonable output devices for guitar practice. I prefer minimal setups which is exactly why I chose the Strandberg and Nano Cortex combo.

Currently, I plug my guitar into the Cortex, connect the Cortex to my Mac to use it as an interface, and then use the laptop speakers for outputs through a DAW.

I am flexible with the budget and I would appreciate some recommendations.

I’ve had good results using the Headrush FRFR-108, a full range flat response mini ‘PA’ speaker. In fact I liked it so much I bought a second one, so now have two of them both connected to the Nano. (In my setup I have a little mixer in the chain which allows me also to use the same speakers as part of my home cinema and Bluetooth audio setup as well!). I’m not convinced they are genuinely 2000W of output, but they are very loud when needed, and very controllable too, so they work well for quiet practice.

Thanks!

How would rate something like
FRFR-GO | HeadRush FX ?

Seems to be smaller and more compact.

I recently acquired a Bose SP1 pro from a friend. He needed fast funds so I helped him out. I didn’t think I’d get much use of it, but I used it at a private ‘garage’ party last week were volume was a concern. I was impressed with how well it did the job. I would never have give this a thought for the price they want new, but have to say I’m glad I have it.

I do like that FRFR-Go! That could be the ticket for your use case I’d think.

Congrats on the Boden essential. I got one myself. I was a little skeptical about that neck, but have found it to be quite enjoyable to play. It sits beside my easy chair along with the Bose for quick access now :slightly_smiling_face:

At home I run my NC into a Minirig 4. Or two in stereo with a subwoofer. Just one is loud enough though.

IMO you can plug into darn near anything.

We are not quite yet to the point all of our frfr speakers sound perfectly identical so you’ll be adjusting with your ears to fine tune anyways.

Just plug into a Bluetooth speaker if you have one with aux in, it’ll do fine. Adjust EQ to taste like you would have to in any room.

I went with an FRFR Go.
