External MIDI foot control issue

Hello,

I do own a m-wave chocolate midi foot switch, which I believe most of the nano cortex users also prefer.
Imagine that all 4 foot switches has been assigned to different effect slots on my setup.

When I switch the preset and try to switch on one of the effects on new preset, tapping first on foot switch does not activate the effect assigned, you need to tap for a second time to activate(if you do not leave previous preset effects open, you do not need to tap twice on next preset). That creates some trouble during live sessions.

Is there a way to avoid that?

I’m no way a MIDI specialist, but I think the issue is that the MIDI messages are only one way. So the controller doesn’t actually know the state of the effect on a preset/bank in the NC.

I guess we use it the same way. I have the ampero MIDI footswitch (also 4 switches). So you always stay on the same bank on the footswitch since you have it mapped to the different FX slots, like say, FX1, FX2, FX3 and FX4 as I imagine we all tend to leave the reverb on all the time.

So, if you activated FX2 on preset 1A, when you go to preset 1B, the controller only remembers the last message it sent and “thinks” it’s still on. That’s where the double press comes from.

I’m not sure if using a USB MIDI controller will be able to communicate 2 ways, making life easier for us.

If someone knows, please enlighten us with the answer.

Happy new year, Nano People!!!
