New QC user here. Am a longtime Fractal Axe FX 3 user but have been looking for a unit to use out that is portable.
The QC sounds very good out of the box and some of the Factory and Cloud presets are excellent.
After some trial and error I did a Capture of one of my favorite Fractal presets (FAS Supertweed Pulled). Edit “Supertweed Pushed”.
It sounds great! Almost identical once you tweak the B/M/T a little (hardly at all) and add a Reverb block to it.
(I think i read somewhere that the QC does not capture delays and reverb).
Overall impression of the QC so far is very good and I am only just scratching the surface I assume.
It is a custom model by Fractal supposedly based on a Fender Deluxe Tweed. It has been called a Tweed on steroids. It has a growly thicker vintage sound.
Really close. Hard to tell any difference at all on this preset. I think on some low gain presets I have tried there is a difference but really not sure. Might just be guitar dependent, or getting a preset dialed in.
This is only my second day with the QC, but it holds up well to the Axe FX 3 in terms of feel and tones overall. Both great.
The Axe Fx 3 is an incredibly mature unit going on 18 years with the first Axe Fx model and the developer does firmware updates constantly.
What I can say is I am glad I have a QC and am really impressed.
I had a generation before your Fractal, an AX8. Great unit and it served me well. I always wanted to try an FM3 or FM9 but when it came time, the compactness and vastly supervisor UI of the QC won me over. Who would guess that it would sound fantastic too?
I thought I would but I don’t. I still have my AX8, as well. I planned on using it as a backup but, so far, the QC has been bulletproof. I guess I miss the faster loading presets and I did miss the full MIDI capabilities until I learned the hack (thank you forum members!).
