Hi , im a new quad cortex mini user
im trying to use FX loop (4 cable method) on my marshall combo amp , but when i set up the signal chain , everything that i place after FX loop block become disabled , not only reverb or delay (all of the effect) , can please i get some help here?
and yes i already copy the cable routing correctly
guitar to Input 1 QC
Send 1 QC to amp Input
FX Loop Send amp to Return 1 QC
Output 1 to return Amp
please help me solve this problem
Check the input gain on your amplifier. Which amp model is it, by the way?
I have a longer answer typed up, but I’ll wait for your reply.
Can you show a photo of your preset? There is probably be a routing issue with how the preset is put together. 4 cable method is complicated an enough where one tiny wrong thing in the preset could make it not work.
Also do you mean you’re using output 3 or 4 back to the amp? Output 1 is XLR….son you’ll need to use 3 or 4 since they’re 1/4 inch
here is my signal chain , the row 3 is not workking , everything that i place after the FX loop block is become disabled or not working. and yes im using out 3 not out 1 , do you sense anything wrong ?
Few questions for you-
-I see you don’t have an FX Loop block in your chain. Assuming you forgot to add it? That would immediately explain part of this
-are you using an amp block into the front end of your actual amp? This will make it sound really weird if you’re doing that. The amp block is really only intended to go into the power amp of your real amp, not the front end of it
In this example, you’re sending Row 1 directly to Row 3. That’s not what you want.
Also, like @SelfTitledLP says, you probably don’t want to send an amp block in the QC directly to the input of the amplifier. Are you trying to use different amp blocks in the QC or do you want to stick with the preamp section of the Marshall?
sorry for the confusion the signal path should be like this
i want to use QC amp and bypass the marshall pre amp , im sorry this is my first digital amp modeler, this is my cable routing
You shouldn’t go into the front end of your real amp then. If you don’t want to use the preamp of the real amp, then 4 cable method isn’t right for you.
Skip the effects loop block, etc and just simplify your setup.
guitar into QC input 1
Output 3 into Marshall Amp effects return
No effects loop block or extra cabling needed. 4 cable method like you’re using is only if someone wants to use the preamp of their amplifier.
FWIW you had the wrong FX loop block selected as well. You had the stereo fx loop 1/2…..
Also you should select the specific output you’re using, so Output 3 instead of Output 3/4
if im using this method , can i use reverb and delay as well? so no need cable into the front real amp?
You can use any effects you want.
There’s no need to plug into the front of your amplifier because you aren’t trying to use that preamp. You’re just using the power amp.
just tried your suggestion , and its working the way i wanted, so perfect! thank you so much for helping me!
