Nano Cortex currently has no way to see which preset is active by name during a performance. The hardware has no display, and the Cortex Cloud app has no performance-oriented view - mid-gig you’re navigating the same editing UI that you have to scroll through, with small text and no at-a-glance state.
Request 1: Gig View in Cortex Cloud:
A dedicated no-scrolling full-screen performance mode showing:
- Active preset name in large type, always visible
- On/off state of each block in the signal chain
- Large tap targets to toggle blocks and switch presets
This view should stay in sync with the device, including changes made from the footswitches.
Request 2: state feedback over standard MIDI:
If a Gig View isn’t on the roadmap, please expose device state over USB MIDI so we can build this ourselves:
- Automatically transmit PC on every preset change (including footswitch-initiated) - not only user-assigned messages
- Transmit CC on block engage/bypass changes
- SysEx query for preset names
Today NC only sends the manually assigned per-preset/per-footswitch messages, which means any companion app must duplicate and maintain the device’s content by hand.
Request 3: USB connection option for Cortex Cloud:
When the phone/tablet is already connected to the Nano Cortex via USB-C, the app should detect it and connect automatically over USB. Right now the only path is Bluetooth: hold EXIT + CAPTURE to enter pairing mode, then manually select the device in the app - redundant steps for a unit that’s often already wired to the same device for audio. USB would make the connection faster, more reliable, and zero-touch.
Any of these would close the biggest usability gap for live use. The MIDI route is likely a small firmware change and would let the community cover the rest.
