Add ability to run .NAM models in the QC

The pm sounds great. NAM player sounds better, but the pm isn’t THAT far off.

One of the “biggies” are going to add a nam block at some point. Fractal, Tonex, Headrush, Kemper, Line6… whoever does it is gonna rule. There are a lot of NAM profiles and a lot of interest.

I hope NDSP gets there first.

Did anyone see the release today of the darkglass anagram? It runs NAM models. I’m not sure if that should give us QC users hope or not?

I wouldn’t think so unfortunately, since Korg now owns DG.
It looks like everything the Nano should have been. It’s going to tempt a lot of bassists, I’m sure

I saw the one for bass but also being played with a guitar. Are they going release a dedicated guitar one?

Highly doubt they’ll do a dedicated guitar one. In the product description for it they mention being able to use it for guitar. It’ll load whatever nam profile you want. Also darkglass doesn’t do any guitar specific products. Pretty sure they just intend this to be for guitar and bass (but doesn’t seem like any of the amp models are for guitar unless you do nam profiles,). They probably assume the effects will work for both instruments/ some people may just want it for the effects.

This pedal is absolutely more what the nano cortex should have been than whatever half baked idea they came out with

That was the FIRST thing I thought when I saw the Anagram today.

More than double the price of the nano? Id hope so. Yikes. Has some cool features, and look at all the cab choices. Lol

Sound familiar? “ Note: Some of the Anagram’s features will be added with future Darkglass firmware updates.

Certainly a good time to be a player. Seems like theres almost too many options out there. None of them seem wrong either.

I went down that NAM rabbit hole ages ago… And really don’t get the attraction.. Lots and lots of bad profiles searching endlessly to try find a good and even then not so good… I really hope ndsp stick at what there doing and I’m sure they will… Get a Paint Audio Ce1 that runs plugins…

NAM shines when you have your own gear you want profiled as accurate as possible. I’m a big fan of it for that reason - not a fan of profile diving but I have come across some profile creators who produce quality profiles I like. To each their own.

It’s also twice the price, and has a power requirement (9-12V 2A) that’s more in line with the QC, in that it calls for a specific (ie pricier) power supply.
Soooo…yeah. It’s more a QC-lite than a “better NC” IMHO. Which makes sense considering the price point, it’s pretty much exactly halfway between the NC and QC.
And also, so far, mostly designed for bass, seems to be little in the way of guitar-centric sims/FX. Which makes sense coming from Darkglass.
And just as with the Fender TMP, I’m honestly not a fan of a display where you have to scroll around to seem “the whole picture”, and don’t really see the need for skeuomorphic interfaces, I for one like the leaner, more stylised approach of the QC better.

For the amount of grumbling and complaining from Nano users after the initial Hey look a shiny new thing! marketing stuff wore off, the Anagram addresses a lot of what was missed.

And sure, it’s a bass-centric tool for now, but there’s no reason why it couldn’t also be for guitar–especially if NAM capability is included.

For the record, I’m happy with my QC and don’t have a need for anything else at the moment.

I think for the price what we have to pay for QC why wouldn’t they want to give us the option to have choices and flexibility? All this will do would make the QC more of a value added tool. If you look at the hot tone ampero stage II. It profiles very very well and it runs NAM profiles, And it is 1/2 the price QC. I’m waiting to see if NDSP to change their mind before i invest 1700-1800 bucks. It will be the deciding factor whether I go with a QC or a hot tone unit stage II. So we’ll see what happens in the next 3 to 4 months and I will make my decision accordingly.

Probably all these units Will saturate the market and raise down the development/investment of firmwares…too much people distribuited in 1378 units..and this can translate in a minimum level of firmware update. As old amps ahah
This Is already underway

While that could be cool. I don’t see why a company that’s put a ton of time into developing their own capture process would just add a competing tech to their product.

Neural’s preset/capture stuff is so closed off into their own website/cloud that I don’t see NAM coming to it as well. Maybe Line 6 would since it’s easy to transfer their presets without their website, and they’re one of the only major companies that doesn’t have their own capture software.

Also imagine how confusing it would be when talking about Neural captures…..and Neural Amp Modeler (which has nothing to do with Neural DSP haha)
